Members of the Native Women Society of the Great Plains and Minnesota Indian Women Against Sexual Assault Coalition spent a week in sisterhood learning at Morton, MN for three days, October 6 to 8, 2015 at the Jackpot Junction Casino Hotel. Beside membership board meetings, learning sessions included topics on technology and safety for survivors, Native Transgender and Two Spirit communities and advocacy, gathering and collecting natural medicines, understanding historical trauma in Native LGBTQ communities and updates on emerging Issues with tribal consultations, funding and legal cases. The Minnesota Indigenous Women’s Society, a member of both coalitions was host for the training days.
