During the week of January 19th, 2016, at Rapid City, 25 advocates from member programs spent three days learning basic advocacy support skills at the Advocacy Training: Across the Needs of Native Communities. Carmen O’Leary and Linda Thompson presented on the dynamics of advocacy, roles and culture. Leah Green of the National Sexual Assault Coalition Resource, gave an all day training on Sexual Assault Dynamics and participants learned about data empowerment with Diane Gout with ‘Understanding the Power of our Stories through Data.’ Viola St. Claire of the Wyoming Legal Services provided information on court advocacy.  The training wrapped up with information on technology and safety advocacy and hands on work in making public services announcements for tribal radio by Amanda Takes War Bonnett.  Another advocacy training will be held later this year.January advocacy training flyer
