Winnebago opens women’s shelter

The Winnebago Domestic Violence program is opening their new shelter on January 12, 2026. The newly built shelter will accommodate three families at time, with each unit having their own bedroom, bath and kitchen area. Also, there is two single areas for individual women.

The blessing and opening ceremony of the new shelter was Friday., January 9 at noon. Winnebago Tribal Council Vice-Chairman Isaac Smith will be performing a blessing of the shelter followed by a lunch at the shelter. Contact number for the program is (402) 745-3959.
